Donegal community groups urged to apply for new funding – Highland Radio

Community groups in Donegal are invited to apply for grants under the latest Community Activities Fund announced this week by the Ministry of Rural and Community Affairs.

The money, which will be allocated to groups in disadvantaged neighborhoods, can cover either capital expenditure or operating costs.

Minister Heather Humphries launched the fund this week, with a national endowment of € 9 million. It is intended to support community and volunteer groups in disadvantaged areas with small grants of up to € 1,500 available for operating costs such as utilities and insurance, and large grants of up to 10,000. € to carry out the necessary repairs and improvements to their installations, or to buy new equipment.

Cllr Niamh Kennedy, chairman of the Donegal Local Community Development Committee encourages all community and volunteer groups in the county to apply, saying the committee recognizes the difficulties faced by the groups in meeting their day-to-day expenses throughout the Covid 19 pandemic.
