FHS scored their runs early and kept the Warriors at bay, starting with a 2-0 lead after the end of the first inning, followed by a run in the top of the third to finalize all scores for the SHAC game.
The Lions finished with seven hits and three errors, while Eastern had two runs and two errors.
At the top of first, the Lions led off with a Dow Moon single, and Jacob Morgan followed by taking first base on an error, allowing Moon to score the game’s first run. On this same sequence, Morgan advanced to second base, then went to third on a fly ball.
Cade Miller beat Morgan for the run of a line practice shot to center field, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead.
The third inning saw Fairfield score as Gabe Fouch – who hit a line single to left field – went to second base on a Miller single. Then Fouch scored on an error that started on a ground ball hit by Hunter Burns.
Of Fairfield’s seven total hits, Miller led the way by going 3 for 3 with an RBI. Next comes Moon at 2 for 4 with one point. Fouch (one run) and Owen Larrick also had hits, as he also had a steal.
Fouch was the winning pitcher, pitching 116 in seven innings for a full game. Fouch allowed no runs on two hits and four walks, totaling 14 strikeouts in the win.
Fairfield’s victory moves them to 15-4 overall with a SHAC record of 11-2. This season, in SHAC games, the Lions have outscored their opponents, 119-24.
