Highland Beer, Gin & Whiskey Festival kicks off for charity

THE FIRST Highland Beer, Gin and Whiskey Festival will take place in Inverness over the Platinum Jubilee weekend, June 3-5, 2022, in aid of local charities.

The event will bring together the best beers, gins and whiskeys from around the world. scottish highlandsas well as hosting local food trucks.

The Highland Rugby Football Club (Highland RFC) ground in Canal Park, Inverness will host the festival, with all proceeds going to Mikeysline, Alzheimer Scotland, My Name’5 Doddie and Highland RFC.

The festival will be held in conjunction with Inverness City 7s, a two-day rugby 7s competition with tournaments for elite men, women and social men and a full program for junior boys, girls and young adults .

The entertainment weekend starts on the afternoon of Friday June 3 at 3 p.m. with a Mini’s and Micro’s Rugby Festival. The opening ceremony of the beer, gin and whiskey festival will take place at 6pm, followed by an invitational rugby union match and a free Feis Rois Highland Ceilidh.

After the rugby qualifying tournament on Saturday there will be music from the Electric Cherries until late. Sunday 5th June is Rugby Tournament Finals Day and a DJ will be playing throughout the afternoon and evening.

It will be the first time a Rugby 7s tournament has been held in Inverness since 2013. Teams will come to the Highland capital from across Scotland with guest teams Spearheads and Crusaders already signed up for the Elite event and a keen interest from senior National League clubs and local teams in social tournaments.

Roy Dinnes, Vice President of Highland RFC, said: “After being delayed twice due to Covid, we are delighted to finally be able to put tickets on sale for the first Highland Beer, Gin & Whiskey Festival and Inverness City 7s. .

“It’s shaping up to be a fantastic weekend of Highland food and drink, great music and, of course, Rugby 7s. The weekend will be a culmination of events in Highland’s centenary year. RFC, but we hope he will leave a legacy that will last well beyond our 100and year.

“The Highland Beer, Gin & Whiskey Festival and Inverness City 7s will also provide funds to the club’s dedicated charities, Mikeysline, Alzheimer Scotland and My Name’5 Doddie, as well as Highland RFC to help us continue to promote and bringing rugby to communities across the Highlands.

The Highland Beer, Gin & Whiskey Festival will host beverage producers from across the Highlands, including beer from Black Isle Brewery, Cairngorm Brewery, Cromarty Brewing Co, Loch Ness Brewery, Windswept Brewing Co and Dog Falls Brewing Company.

The gin will come from Red Door Gin, Badachro Distillery, GlenWyvis Distillery and Loch Ness Spirits; plus whiskey from Badachro Distillery, Benromach Distillery and Tomatin Distillery, and more to be confirmed.
