Highland capital songwriter Katie Gregson-Macleod releases new demo and signs contract with Columbia after new song went viral on TikTok with over six million plays

A HIGHLAND artist who went viral on TikTok has released the highly anticipated song and signed a deal with one of the UK’s major record labels.

Breakthrough singer-songwriter Katie Gregson-MacLeod, from Inverness, has shared the demo for her highly anticipated new single “complex (demo)” via Columbia Records.

The young talent, who is a former employee of Perk Downtown, first shared a video performing part of the song this spring.

The video went viral and inspired covers from artists including Camilla Cabello, King Princess, Madison Beer, Tom Walker and more.

Marking her first release on the label, the song showcases the newly signed artist’s rich talent, as her captivating vocals and the track’s sparse instrumentation merge into a quietly heartbreaking story of unrequited love.

The release of complex (demo) follows the single Second Single Bed and his 5-track debut EP Games I Play released in 2021.

Katie has already received support from BBC Music Introducing, Radio 1 and BBC Scotland, with Vic Galloway naming her one of BBC Scotland’s 25 artists to watch in 2022.
