Meghalaya is ‘best performing state’ in health insurance

Meghalaya along with Kerala, Gujarat, Manipur, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh won the “Best Performing State” award in the implementation of health insurance scheme – Ayushman Bharat PMJAY and Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission.

The award was presented by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya today in New Delhi on the closing day of the two-day Arogya Manthan 2022, celebrating Ayushman’s four-year completion Bharat PMJAY and one year of Ayushman Bharat’s digital health mission.

The Union Health Minister has awarded the Ayushman Utkrishtata Puraskaar (Ayushman Excellence Awards) 2022 to commend the Top Performing State – Andhra Pradesh, the Top Performing District of Parvathipuram Manyam in Andhra Pradesh, the best performing government facility in Dharwad District Hospital, Karnataka.

It also awarded Best Performing States to Kerala, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Manipur, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh & Madhya Pradesh, Best Performing Union Territories to Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir and LDCs (Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras) under AB PM-JAY and ABDM.

Mandaviya also urged states that have yet to cover eligible beneficiaries to accelerate their efforts to provide all of them with Ayushman Bharat cards. He also encouraged stakeholders to come up with innovative solutions to integrate technology into digital health.

Ayushman Bharat PMJAY is a national central government public health insurance fund which aims to provide free access to health insurance coverage to low-income people in the country and provide coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for medical care in licensed hospitals, both public and private.
