Pixelle Specialty Solutions Announces Expansion to Chillicothe

Pixelle Specialty Solutions, in conjunction with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development, and Greater Chillicothe & Ross County Development, announced on Tuesday an investment of more than $21 million to upgrade and repair paper machine No. the Chilpaco factory.

“The current balance of supply and demand in the market and the competitive integrated cost structure of our Ohio mill has given us the opportunity to restart paper machine #24 (PM24) at the mill. of Chillicothe. This rebuilt machine will add 75,000 tons per year of capacity to serve our customers in the food packaging, commercial inkjet and other specialty papers segments. These are attractive growth markets where Pixelle holds leadership positions,” said Timothy R. Hess, President and CEO of Pixelle.

Hess added, “We would also like to thank JobsOhio for an economic development grant that will support an employee training program to provide workers with the skills needed to operate the paper machine safely and efficiently.

JobsOhio supported the project with a $250,000 JobsOhio Labor Grant and Southeastern Ohio Economic Development assisted the company in the grant process.

The Chillicothe Paper Mill was founded in 1881 and is the last integrated paper mill in the state of Ohio.
