The search continues for a missing woman in the Highland mountains outside Butte

Butte Police and 15-90 Search and Rescue are continuing to search for a 30-year-old woman who was reported missing early Saturday in the Highlands Campground area, south of Butte in the Highlands Mountains.

The woman has been identified as Deidra Lufkins from South Dakota. Lufkins is described as Native American, 5′ 9″, 150 lbs.

Lufkins was separated from two men she was with on Thursday or Friday night. She was on foot when she was last seen. She was not dressed for the recent weather conditions in the area.

15-90 Search and Rescue conducted an extensive ground search in the area where Lufkins was last seen.

Anyone in this area who may have seen Lufkins is asked to call Butte Police at 497-1120.

The search will continue on Sunday with a continuation of the ground search. A specialized drone will also be used in the research.

BUTTE – Butte 15-90 Search and Rescue is looking for a woman who has been lost in the Highland Mountains south of Butte since Thursday afternoon.

The woman, from North Dakota, was with two other men in the Highlands when their car got stuck on Thursday.

The trio wandered off to seek help when the woman was separated from the group.

Both men were found after midnight Saturday by the search party near Moose Creek Road. The search for the woman continues.

No further details have been disclosed at this stage.
